Air France confirms that, due to a technical problem on an aircraft, flight AF995 scheduled to operate the Johannesburg-Paris-Charles de Gaulle service on 31 May was initially postponed until 1st June prior to being cancelled.
All passengers have been assisted by Air France staff who are currently doing everything possible to have them flown back to Paris on flights operated by Air France or other airlines.
The local maintenance teams have been following repair procedures and recommendations in accordance with the constructor's manual, but without success at this stage.
A team of additional experts is en route to Johannesburg to assist the mechanics on site.
Air France regrets this incident and the inconvenience caused to its passengers throughout this irregularity, and would like to state that flight safety and the safety of its passengers are its main priority.
