First flights with new seats
Monday 1 February 2010
On 30 January, the passengers of the Air France A321 operating flight AF 6107 from Toulouse to Paris at 7:45 am were the first to discover the new seats Air France is gradually introducing on its Airbus A319, A320 and A321s on its domestic network.

With this new seat, customers now have 2 to 3 inches (5 to 7.5 cm) more legroom and a more comfortable seat, redesigned with a natural 15° seat recline.
Another new innovation is the weight of the seat, which is 40% lighter than a traditional seat, representing an average of 750 kg less weight per aircraft. This weight reduction enables Air France to reduce fuel comsumption by 1,700 tonnes per year and to reduce CO2 emmisions by 5,200 tonnes, or the equivalent of 650 Paris-Marseille flights.
This new seat offers increased comfort and space for passengers and its optimized structure enables Air France to increase the number of seats on board with the installation of an additional row of 6 seats on the Airbus A320 and A321, increasing capacity to 178 and 212 seats respectively.
Jointly designed by Air France and Récaro, Air France's new short-haul seat Air France won the 2009 innovation prize at the Hamburg Aircraft Interiors Fair.
