In an ongoing effort to reduce its environmental impact, Air France is continuing its actions, especially on board.
On its domestic and European flights, Air France now asks passengers to place the free newspapers in a dedicated container when leaving the aircraft. Local businesses then collect the newspapers and recycle them. Tests carried out with customers show that over 75% of passengers place their newspapers in these containers.
On average, 80% of items used for on-board service (blankets, trays etc.) are recycled. In addition, all opportunities for reducing waste are being studied. For example, parts of the meal boxes distributed on some European routes, made of polystyrene, are recycled and contribute to the production of new items on board. While preserving the quality of services offered to its customers, Air France is contributing to preserving the environment in accordance with its commitments made.
In addition, Air France offers its customers an online CO2 calculator to assess the carbon emissions associated with air travel. Air France sponsors the GoodPlanet Foundation and its Carbon Action programme to offer passengers the chance to offset their carbon emissions.
