Air France-KLM and American Express launch the market's leading top-of-the-range co-branded card

As innovators of cobranding in France following the successful launch of the Air France-KLM American Express Gold and Silver cards, and on the strength of their ten-year partnership, Air France-KLM and American Express have decided to launch the Air France-KLM American Express Platinum card for frequent travellers and amateurs of a certain lifestyle. This card is now available by invitation only, for 490 euro.

The expertise of American Express

The Air France-KLM - American Express Platinum Card entitles members to a range of services that had previously been exclusively reserved for privileged American Express customers:

  • a 24/7 concierge service, providing assistance with customers' everyday requests or finding ways to make your wildest dreams come true (such as locating the latest hi-tech gadget that's just hit the stores in the US, having that garment spotted at a London designer tailored personally, enjoying a round of golf on one of the most exclusive golf courses in France or abroad) or letting Concierge do things for you (locating that file you left behind in a taxi abroad, locating tickets for the hit show of the moment, etc.), virtually anywhere in the world.
  • the Fine Dining programme, where American Express will guarantee cardholders a daily reservation in the most reputable restaurants
  • a wide range of insurance packages to offer protection at all times

in the event that you have to cancel or cut your trip short, the insurance package provides coverage for your expenses (airline tickets, hotel reservation and excursion expenses) up to 10,000 euro

if your baggage or personal documents are lost, the Personal Effects insurance package will cover you for up to a maximum of 3,000 euro per year.

If your flight is delayed, the Air France KLM - American Express Platinum card covers all your restaurant or accommodation expenses up to 250 euro and all necessary emergency purchases up to 950 euro, when your baggage is delayed.

Cardholders involved in a dispute abroad are covered in terms of their civil liability up to 2 million euro and can request legal referrals up to 10,000 euro (for lawyer's fees).

And last but not least, the Purchase Protection Plan, a comprehensive Snow and Mountain Insurance Plan, and Car Rental Insurance (including repurchase franchise) are also included.

A more generous miles scale provides card holders the opportunity to earn even more Flying Blue Status Miles and access the higher Flying Blue card level more quickly.

As a result, for every 10 euros spent at:

  • Air France, KLM, Sofitel, Radisson Blu, Hôtels barrière, Châteaux & Hôtels Collection, etc. cardholders will earn 20 Miles.
  • Hertz, Pullman, MGallery, Novotel, Mercure, Suitehotel and Printemps, etc., they will earn a total of 16 Miles.
  • all other affiliated American express outlets, 12 Miles.

Furthermore, all new cardholders will receive a welcome bonus of 20,000 Miles (the equivalent of a return award ticket in France or Europe) on making their first purchase with the card.

Air France KLM and American Express have teamed up with their partners Accor and Hertz in their new offer.

Accor is offering cardholders one year's direct access to Platinum status in its AIClub loyalty programme, exclusively reserved for the group hotels' best customers, with the following benefits:

  • twice as many AIClub points
  • an upgrade
  • check-out time postponed until 4pm,
  • guaranteed room availability up to 3 days before the stay begins,
  • a dedicated customer service.

Hertz also offers Platinum cardholders with the following benefits:

  • a year-round 15% discount on all its car rentals,
  • an automatic upgrade,
  • the option of having your rented car delivered or picked up free of charge at the address of your choice,
