Tuesday 29 November 2011

Yesterday evening, 28 November 2011, the Air France Foundation organized its annual prize-giving ceremony at the Cinémathèque de Paris. The awards were presented by actors Michèle Laroque and François Cluzet, who are themselves involved with several humanitarian causes.

This year, the Air France Foundation rewarded four young people who have had the strength and courage to confront difficult situations despite their poverty or illness. Their prize will help them to finance their studies and to continue to pursue their chosen path.

These four young people have been helped by associations sponsored by the Air France Foundation: ‘Terra dos Homens’ in Brazil, ‘Caméléon’ in the Philippines, ‘The Henri Dumont School’ in Cameroon and ‘A chacun son Everest’ in France.

The Air France Foundation paid homage to the work of these associations which have enabled these young people to rebuild their lives, to continue in education and which have given them all a brighter future.

Since it was set up in 1992, the Air France Foundation has supported over 747 projects to enable sick and disabled children as well as those in great difficulty to have access to education, training, leisure and culture. The Air France Foundation finances projects in France and countries the airline flies to.

The four young people rewarded by the Foundation:

Edouard Boudsocq: The association ‘A chacun son Everest’ was a great support to Edouard when he was fighting cancer. He now volunteers to provide help to other sick children. The symbol of the mountain to climb is for him a great motivation.

Dylan Mounga: Dylan has always been the best student in his class, from infant school right up to high school. He obtained one of the best grades in his high school certificate at the age of 15, thanks to the association ‘The Henri Dumont School’ in Cameroon.

Shaline Gamala: Shaline was taken in by the association ‘Caméléon’ in 2010. She was assisted by social services in the Philippines. Her school results are brilliant and she is an ambassador for children’s rights.

Erick Vieira Miranda: In 2007, at the age of 13, Erick was taken in by the Brazilian association ‘Terra dos Homens’, as part of a programme aimed at street kids. He has now gone back to live with his family and has also gone back to school.
