Air France-KLM is the European leader between China and Europe. Air France and KLM operate 80 weekly flights between their hubs at Paris-Charles de Gaulle and Amsterdam-Schiphol to eight destinations in Greater China: Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Guangzhou, Chengdu, Hangzhou, Xiamen and Taipei.
With its partners China Southern and China Eastern, Air France-KLM offers 104 flights to China.
This network will continue to grow in April 2012 with the opening of new service between Paris-Charles de Gaulle and Wuhan. Air France will become the first airline to offer direct flights between Wuhan and Europe, providing three flights a week operated with the 309-seat Boeing 777-200ER: 35 in Business Class, 24 in Premium Voyageur and 250 in Voyageur / Economy.
Code-sharing cooperation with Chinese companies enables Air France to offer more frequent flight options to customers. The joint venture between Air France and China Southern, which began in January 2011 with the Paris-Guangzhou route, is a further step in this collaboration. This joint venture gives customers access to an unparalleled network of destinations at competitive rates, more frequencies, better connections and more opportunities to earn miles.
For member companies, it is an opportunity to improve their financial results and market share on operated routes. The joint venture also increases the visibility of Air France and KLM brands in the Chinese market while preserving and strengthening the position of the European hubs at Amsterdam-Schiphol and Paris-Charles de Gaulle.
The implementation of another joint venture with China Eastern for the Paris-Shanghai route, projected for 2012, will further strengthen the company’s position in China, consistent with its development strategy.
