
As an international airline open to the world, serving over 200 destinations worldwide with KLM, and as a responsible company concerned with helping the underprivileged, Air France has been involved in humanitarian aid wherever it is present.
Corporate and employee contributions, donations in kind and passenger awareness-raising campaigns are just some of the initiatives Air France has taken in the field of humanitarian aid.
Air France Foundation
The Foundation assists sick and disabled children as well as street children. Air France staff participate in the Foundation’s work through the association e la Fondation, a network of 1,500 employees.
- Annual Programme:funded each year by the Foundation, with projects in France and the rest of the world.
25 projects: 6 in Asia, 3 in Europe, 13 in France, 3 in the Caribbean/Indian Ocean region. - Concorde Programme:funded by a Christies’ auction of items from retired Concorde planes in November 2003. All proceeds were donated to the fund.
26 projects in 2005-2006: 15 in Africa and 11 in Latin America. - Tsunami Programme:funded by Air France employees.
Sponsored 6 projects for survivors of the tsunami in India, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Indonesia as from December 2004.
Groupe Développement
Groupe Développement is an NGO (non-governmental organization) that conducts urban development programmes and sets up micro-credit projects on several continents, promoting the economic and social autonomy of the individual in rural economies.
26 operations are under way, mainly in Latin America, Asia, Africa and Eastern Europe.
Groupe Développement has also set up the ECPAT (End Child Prostitution And Trafficking) programme to fight against child prostitution and trafficking.
Other humanitarian support
Air France is involved in other humanitarian operations, for example Aviation Sans Frontères (association which provides air transport for medicines and sick children in developing countries) or in its partnership with INSERM and Hôpitaux de Paris for the benefit of children suffering from rare diseases.
