The hub improves the quality of air travel:

  • by opening up the different regions of the world: without the hub system, cities with small flows of intercontinental passengers which do not justify direct routes, would be deprived of access to the rest of the world.
  • by operating direct routes: grouping small traffic flows to feed larger flows leads to the operation of direct routes. For example, Air France has been able to open a direct Paris-Santiago route while up to now this destination was served via Buenos Aires. Customer benefit: a three hour reduction in flight time.
  • by increasing flight frequencies and schedules.
