Hub connecting banks: increasing the number of connecting opportunities
Air France prepares its flight schedules in order to make Paris-Charles de Gaulle its hub, that is to say its connecting airport.
This is done by designing connecting banks at various times of the day (six at Paris-Charles de Gaulle) whereby waves of arriving flights coincide with waves of departing flights.
This organization of schedules increases the number of connecting opportunities with a minimum waiting time between two flights.
Every week at Paris-Charles de Gaulle, this system offers Air France passengers 20,695 long-haul/medium-haul connecting opportunities in under two hours.
