To effectively take up the challenges of today and tomorrow, Air France has created an organization that reflects the diversity of sustainability issues.

Environment and Sustainable Development division consists of two departments:

. Environment: This department implements policy in the area of flight operations and, through a network of coordinators, is responsible for cross-functional management of all other departments as regards ground operations. The department also provides consultancy and support services for teams seeking to implement environmental programmes. It publicizes major environmental initiatives and, should it be necessary, deploys predetermined crisis management mechanisms.

. Sustainable Development :This department defines and animates sustainable development policy. It is also responsible for Air FRANCE KLM´s regulatory sustainable development reporting.

In all departments, there is now a Quality – Health & Safety in the Workplace – Environment (QSE) officer, with coordinators for each of these functions.

CSR departments are responsible for policy and deployment in each organization. CSR is guaranteed at the highest level within both airlines: for Air France, at Executive Vice President, member of Executive Committee level (See CSR Governance Board).

2006 saw the introduction of OSYRIS (Operational System for ReportIng on Sustainability) a sustainable reporting tool with the help of French company Enablon.

The Group set up a shared reporting system which is audited every year by one of its two statutory auditors. They check social and environmental indicators, in line with the ‘International Standard on Assurance Engagements’ ISAE 3000.
