Air France-KLM has opted for innovation for a sustainable development policy covering all cargo logistics and maintenance procedures. It does so in partnership with suppliers, shippers and carriers and governmental bodies.
Innovate to simplify
In 2009, Air France Cargo-KLM Cargo developed together with customers and customs, a new cargo logistics chain, particularly for quality perishables. While ensuring safety, health, environmental and economics criteria, customs authorities only have to check 3-4% of the total shipment instead of the usual 60%. This innovative ‘Green Lane’ logistics process, originating Ghana, allows a much faster handling time. A second Green Lane, originating Peru, is under construction.
New CO2MPENSATION for Cargo customers
Air France Cargo-KLM Cargo is the first major air carrier to offer the option of CO2 neutral air freight transport to customers. This new service was launched in April 2009, allowing both freight forwarders and shippers to gain detailed insights into the CO2 emission of their shipments and the option to compensate via Gold Standard projects.
