AIR FRANCE KLM sales office in Lyon scoops alternative transport award

"Au travail, j'y vais autrement" : Air France à Lyon lauréate !

The Rhône-Alpes region of France, in conjunction with ADEME, the French Environment and Energy Management Agency, recently organized a competition entitled “I travel to work differently” to encourage the use of alternatives to the passenger car. No fewer than 225 companies and regional agencies rose to the challenge.

On 9 June, 12,600 employees got on their bikes, set out on foot, took public transport, or pooled cars with colleagues. Together, they covered 160,000km using alternative transport modes, avoiding some 5 metric tons of CO2 emissions.

In the category of establishments employing 1-50 staff in a metropolitan area, the Presqu'île ticket office in Lyon clocked up the highest number of alternative km per employee present on the day of the challenge. Isabelle Hazo, a supervisor in the ticket office, represented the Air France ticket office at the awards ceremony held on 16 June in Lyon.

The mobilization of the Lyon office adds to the multiple initiatives pursued at Air France to minimize the use of passenger cars, including the BOUSSOLE car-pooling program in the Greater Paris area.
