► Dialogue to forge long-term ties with local players
Air France maintains a proactive, transparent dialogue with local residents, associations, and regulatory bodies in all the main areas where it operates. Dialogue and transparency are the keys to successful cooperation on topics such as noise, or quality of life. The Company communicates with local government and economic agents in Greater Paris via a dedicated publication entitled Le Courrier Air France, partenaire de l’Île-de-France. Le Courrier n°12
To foster discussion, Air France opens its doors to elected officials and local residents. In October 2010, Air France Industries opened its facilities in the Orly North business park to the public, inviting them to visit its recently-built or refurbished premises.
Air France has also set itself the target of promoting a development-driven program in the area around Roissy airport known as the Pays de Roissy. With this in mind the Company set up a not-for-profit body in 2003 called Pays de Roissy-CDG, employing two Air France executives part-time with a brief to organize themed working groups focused on training, economic development, housing, transport, and culture. In 2010-11, the association also contributed to the discussions on the Grand Paris public transport network by drafting a cahier d’acteur (a position paper by an interested party) and organized a European forum to discuss safety and security issues.
Since 2007, the association has run a program entitled Une commune, un avion in which a municipality belonging to the association, adopts an Air France Airbus A320 aircraft as a means of sharing the world of air transport with the people of the Pays de Roissy.
Through this type of support, Air France hopes to strengthen ties with the communities living around Roissy and to take action to ensure that the development of the airport fully benefits the region where it is located.
