In June 2005, for the first time in the history of air transport, the frequent flyer programmes of two major European carriers merged to form a single entity. Air France's Fréquence Plus' and KLM's Flying Dutchman' were combined and resulted in Flying Blue'.

With combinable fares and a hubway which links the two hubs at Paris-Charles de Gaulle and Amsterdam-Schiphol with 15 daily flights, Flying Blue is one way of facilitating access to the global network  of both carriers.

Today, with 17 million members, grouping 31 airlines and over 100 non-airline partners, Flying Blue is the most attractive and biggest frequent flyer programme in Europe.

The stakes are high because an airline's frequent flyer programme is one of the three main reasons for choosing an airline.
