Air France information on AF116 flight of November 10
Due to smoke detected on board, flight AF116 on November 10 from Paris to Shanghai by Boeing 777 diverted to Irkutsk (IKT) in Russia, where it landed normally at 8.10 Paris Time on Sunday November 11.
As soon as possible, customers were assisted and provided with accommodation in two hotels designated by the local authorities pending a re-routing solution to Shanghai (PVG). In addition, an Air France team based in Moscow was sent to Irkutsk on Sunday November 11 to coordinate the situation.
Due to the impossibility of completing the repair work within a short timeframe, a second B777 was sent to Irkutsk. At the airport, this second aircraft also experienced a technical incident making the flight from Irkutsk to Shanghai impossible to operate. The customers were once again assisted and provided with accommodation.
