Paolo Basso, world's best sommelier in 2013, met Air France customers on October 11, in the Business lounge in Hall L at Paris-Charles de Gaulle, for an exceptional wine-tasting event. Customers were able to discover the Business cabin’s wine list, specially selected for them by Paolo Basso, on the entire network. The renowned sommelier answered all their questions about the choice of wines available and how to pair them with the dishes served on board. He was also able to tell them about the specific constraints associated with tasting wine on board a flight.
Cheese maker Christophe Lesueur was also present to accompany the wine-tasting with a selection of regional cheeses.
Air France customers were able to enjoy a privileged experience by discovering a quality wine list, and experience a journey through the regions of France and its prestigious chateaux.
One of the best wine lists in the sky
Air France receives regular awards for the quality of its wine list. Last month, at the 2019 World's Best Wine Lists Awards, the company received the Best Airline Wine List in the World award for the second year running. The award is one of the most prestigious in this field awarded by the British magazine The World of Fine Wine.
In February 2019, Air France was rewarded for the exceptional quality of the wines and champagnes served in its La Première cabin at the prestigious 2018 Business Traveller's Cellars in the Sky Awards. It was also awarded the prize for the best champagne served in first class.
The Air France wine list
In addition, since May 2019, Air France has been extending its offer of the best wines, champagnes and spirits with La Cave Air France. The company's customers benefit from special offers and invitations to private wine-tasting events, specially dedicated to them.
They can order the wines, champagnes and spirits they enjoy on board at home or on board, with the Air France Connect service. Ideal for ordering the wine they’ve enjoyed at 30,000 feet and taking the Air France travel experience back home!
