Once upon a time, air france and children...

Air France has always been very kind to its young travellers. In 1949, the "famous" kids meal appeared on board...
And from 1951, the family service was born on the Paris-Dakar route. Children also benefited from products and services tailored to their needs: cots, baby food, toys, albums and other games... two nurse hostesses helped mothers to care for their children. Over the years, these "family assistants" greatly helped crews and ensured the welfare of children.
The notion of family came into its own with the launch of special fares. Air France has introduced many different operations and activities for children, notably "unaccompanied minors" or UMs: an international drawing competition - Imagine the Little Prince by Saint Exupery in 1982 – the launch of "Super light" fares in 1987, "Immediate boarding"in 1991, Santa's arrival at Roissy, etc...
In 1993, children discovered a new planet: "Planète bleue", a new image, a new logo in bright colours. A universe entirely designed for children, constantly renewed and enriched over time: infant and child meals, fun games, cartoons and a "Comix" channel, a music programme called "Planet Music" and a "world traveller" graduation certificate. Everything is done to remind us that travel remains a dream for children.
Today a new family offer is available: "Kids and Kids Solo", a move upmarket and new services appreciated by our young globetrotters. Every year, over 1.3 million children travel on Air France routes, including 410,000 babies and 285,000 unaccompanied children.
