A tasting experience with Paolo Basso in the Air France lounge
Paolo Basso, voted world’s best sommelier in 2013, was present to meet Air France customers during an exceptional wine tasting in the brand new Business lounge in hall M at Paris-Charles de Gaulle. He invited them to discover the wine list specially selected for Business class passengers, on all flights throughout the company’s network. The renowned wine consultant answered all our customers’ questions about the wines chosen, and the best wines to accompany the dishes on board. He also explained the specific constraints linked to tasting these wines during the flight.
This event has allowed Air France customers to enjoy a privileged experience, the chance to discover a wine list of singular quality, and a journey through the regions of France and its prestigious domains.
A wine and Champagne list distinguished with seven awards in 2018
In 2018, at the Business Traveller Cellars in The Sky Awards, Air France received numerous awards for the exceptional quality of the wines and Champagnes served on board its La Première and Business cabins -
Two Gold medals: First Class Champagne and First Class dessert white wine categories.
Four Silver medals: First and Business Class overall cellar, First Class white wine, First Class overall cellar and Business Champagne categories.
A bronze medal: First Class red wine category.
The outstanding number of awards scooped up by Air France, in competition with 31 other airlines, is a mark of recognition for the high level of care and effort invested to offer one of the best wines and spirits cellars in the sky. These awards also illustrate Air France’s successful partnership with Paolo Basso, voted world’s best sommelier in 2013, who has been signing the wines and Champagnes list throughout the company’s network since 2014, in cooperation with Thierry Desseauve and Michel Bettane, in charge of the group of Bettane-Desseauve experts.
