Amazonia, a Tree for Life

Establishing the environmental education programme as a long-term, sustainable project (Year 4) 
 

While the people of the Peruvian Amazon are suffering from deforestation and the damage caused by the consequences of climate change, they do not realize that they are partly responsible for these changes and are mostly unaware of what action to take to reverse this destructive process. The association Amazonia, a tree for life sets out to train indigenous children in the Peruvian Amazon in environmental protection. The Air France Foundation has been supporting the association for several years, by gradually implementing the different stages of the training project through to completion. Following the structural development phase of the association on site, the current task involves rolling out complete training courses divided into 3 parts, within the 3 buildings already financed by the Foundation – theoretical training in the library, practical training in the greenhouse, recycling training in the recycling building. The Foundation’s support for this project will finance the development of a massive tree-planting programme within the village schools.
