Introductory vocational courses for young people living on the streets and victims of social injustice in Cusco.
The association Qosqo Maki provides a safe haven, protection and support for young people living on the streets, helping them to find employment and secure a place in society. Most of the young people supported (aged between 13 and 18) have left the family home (due to violence, alcoholism, abuse, insufficient financial resources). The association gives them free access to a dormitory, as well as a cultural centre where they can learn to defend their rights and take part in educational activities. The association now offers two vocational workshops – carpentry and baking. The support of the Air France Foundation will allow the association to finance the renovation and outfitting of two new workshops on the theme of socially responsible tourism – management of a tourist accommodation centre and management of a cafeteria. A space for recording podcasts and creating music will also be opened thanks to the Foundation’s support.
