Hearing aids for deaf children and teacher training

AuditionSolidarité conducts humanitarian initiatives in France and abroad, providing hundreds of deprived people and deaf and hard-of-hearing children with hearing aids every year. It also conducts hearing aid recycling and preventive initiatives related to hearing. In the Dominican Republic, over 97,000 people have hearing problems, more than 85% of whom are aged 0 to 19. As the average monthly wage is €305, families are often unable to afford a hearing aid. The project supported by the Air France Foundation since 2010 aims to provide broader inclusion for deaf and hard-of-hearing children living in extremely vulnerable situations by giving them back their hearing. The goal is to eventually provide hearing aids to 450 girls and boys aged 3 to 18 and support them with speech therapy sessions and music workshops. The project also aims to train local teams in all of the disciplines associated with fitting hearing aids, daily maintenance of hearing aids and providing verbalisation support for all of these children.
