École Bleu Outremer: Raising awareness of tomorrow’s challenges for the ocean

Bestrun’s main activities involve projects to combat invasive exotic species, nesting beach restoration workshops, organising nature trips, beach clean-ups, services to schools and scientific project such as “UTOPIAN”. École Bleu Outremer, supported by the Air France Foundation since 2022, is a learning and educational project that takes place on board the oceanographic vessel Marion Dufresne. The aim is to bring together young French people from around the country and the overseas territories to educate them about the wealth of the ocean, the importance of its preservation and the consequences of climate change and biodiversity loss. The Air France Foundation grant has funded a stay on board for five Mayotte pupils from underprivileged backgrounds. In addition, two students from the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Paris received plane tickets paid for by Air France’s Humanitarian Sponsorship Department to take part in the stay on board the vessel.
