Children and young people in serious difficulties
India
Provide children and young people living in the streets in New Delhi a protective environment and access to education.
The vocation of Chaya France is to protect, educate, empower and make a lasting difference to the lives of children at risk in India. The association works with the Indian NGO ONYVA, which runs safe houses providing street children shelter and care. These children benefit from the TARA House prevention programme. The project supported by the Air France Foundation provides vulnerable minors who have experienced severe abuse, poor treatment and neglect with comprehensive care (education, medical treatment and social reintegration) and a safe and protective environment. Most of them suffer from malnutrition and need medical care. The association also aims to enroll these children in English-speaking private schools in Delhi. With the help of local authorities, the families and their children are supported in rebuilding their lives. TARA offers boys and girls the same learning and development opportunities. The skills they acquire help them to better adapt to adulthood when the time comes to leave TARA.
