Improving education conditions in 6 schools with solar lighting equipment.
Electriciens sans frontières is an international charitable NGO set up in 1986 to carry out development aid, solidarity and post-emergency energy projects for disadvantaged communities. They systematically take into account environmental concerns, by giving priority to renewable energies.
Haiti is the poorest country in the Northern hemisphere and lies in the path of the region’s severe hurricanes. The island is thus particularly hard hit by the destruction of buildings, especially schools. The project sponsored by the Air France Foundation aims to improve access to education in 6 schools in the Grand’Anse and Nippes region. Electriciens sans frontières is in charge of installing a photovoltaic power system for these 6 schools and the internal electrical installations necessary to ensure adequate teaching and learning conditions in the schools. The aim is also to extend the educational offer and improve working conditions for all users. A campaign to raise awareness about electrical hazards is also included in the project.
