Empire green classes: educating children in agricultural professions of the future in harmony with their environment

The centre of the Empire des Enfants association caters to boys aged 5 to 14 who are living on the streets, victims of exploitation through forced begging, lost or from disrupted families, and covers their costs in full. The association conducts activities in rural areas at its subsidiary in Popenguine. The project, supported by the Air France Foundation since 2014, gives nearly 200 children the opportunity to learn about managing and treating waste, which they repurpose in recovery workshops. Within the structure, the children also learn about renewable energies thanks to the biodigester to use organic waste in gas and digestate production to fertilise garden soil. The programme provided helps children reintegrate into their rural environment to make better preparations for their future.
