Parcours Citoyen: a socio-educational programme to reveal the potential of teenagers in Chad. Year 2
The association helps the most vulnerable populations to acquire the means to improve their living conditions in the long term. In response to the lack of opportunities for disadvantaged young people in N'Djamena, and to help them avoid the difficulties of integration and combat violations of their rights, particularly those of girls, ESSOR has set up the ‘Parcours Citoyen’ programme. This is a 5-month programme for 200 young people aged 13 to 17, half of whom are girls who are seriously behind in their schooling or who have dropped out, are orphans, are single mothers or are victims of prostitution, run in partnership with local associations and authorities. These young people are given the opportunity to reflect through socio-educational workshops, activities (sports, theatre, etc.) and cultural outings on themes such as their rights, health, sexuality and the environment. Support from the Air France Foundation is also helping to equip and revitalise a space dedicated to strengthening 5 youth clubs.
