Fondation Architectes de l’urgence

FAU brings together architects, engineers and planners who use their professional expertise to provide appropriate and sustainable assistance to all victims of natural, technological or human disasters. In the wake of the terrible earthquake in Morocco in September 2023, the association provided assistance in the form of assessment missions, expert appraisals and the dispatch of emergency reconstruction equipment. The current project supported by the Air France Foundation targets a boarding school in Asni, which until now has provided accommodation for young girls from the region throughout their studies between secondary school and high school (aged 11/18). Since its creation, this structure has benefited hundreds of girls and can now be rehabilitated and reinforced to ensure safe accommodation. Following the team's assessment of the building, it was found that it had not been erected in compliance with current earthquake-resistant standards. These findings highlight the need for significant intervention to correct these structural deficiencies.
