Social support and career guidance for teenagers from the favelas of São Paulo

For 20 years, the Gol de Letra foundation has been supporting children and young people in underprivileged neighbourhoods. It provides educational, sporting and cultural activities, as well as vocational training. Every year it caters to over 3,000 children at its centres in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo. Gol de Letra has managed to forge relationships of trust with community leaders, schools and the network of social workers – an essential condition for its work on the ground. The current project, supported by the Air France Foundation since 2020, is based on support for teenagers. It aims to expand their range of cultural, social and vocational knowledge and skills. The association helps them to thoroughly reflect on their life plans and provides workshops on environmental respect awareness. Gol de Letra caters to 300 young people aged 14 to 20 in this programme each year.
