Social support and vocational counselling for teenagers in the favelas of Sao Paulo.
The Foundation Gol de Letra works to improve the social integration of children and young people from disadvantaged neighbourhoods. It provides educational, sports and cultural activities as well as vocational training. It welcomes more than 3,000 children in its centres in Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo every year. After 25 years of activity, the association has noted an improvement in the situation of vulnerable populations in the sector where it operates. The project, which has been supported by the Air France Foundation since 2020, aims to instill values such as respect and a sense of ethics in young people from a favela in Sao Paulo, through a number of initiatives including art workshops, the construction of a “life skills project” in the form of tutoring, study courses to help them prepare for their Baccalauréat-equivalent diploma, the training of a group of young instructors, and access for young people to a place where they can talk to a social worker.
