Music sessions at the Necker Children’s Hospital.
The aim of the association is to offer music sessions for children in hospital and the adults who care for them. The musicians are professionals trained in music therapy and work in a sensitive environment in the treatment rooms. The project is to continue the support for patients begun in 2008. With the support of the Air France Foundation, 150 3-hour sessions will be held throughout the year in the paediatric wards at Necker Hospital. In practical terms, the musician creates a calmer atmosphere to reduce the child's anxiety and pain. This musical presence also makes it easier to separate young patients from their parents when they enter the operating theatre. The Head of the Neonatology and Neonatal Intensive Care Department states that ‘Music has a positive effect on children in situations of Stress and Aggression. It is also likely that music has a stimulating effect on brain development’.
