Extension and protection of the Nag el Seyagh school in Louxor

The main aims of Les Amis de la Haute-Egypte are to foster education by constructing or renovating schools, provide bursaries to the poorest children, combat malnutrition, combat illiteracy in women, develop projects through microcredit and support the activities of vocational training centres. The Nag el Seyagh school, where the renovation project is under way, supported by the Air France Foundation, is located in an extremely underprivileged neighbourhood of Louxor. It has 638 pupils in 15 classes at nursery, primary and preparatory level – the equivalent of secondary school in France. The current aims are to double the hosting capacity of the Children’s Garden in order to open an additional class and retain government accreditation. The partnership between the Air France Foundation and Les Amis de la Haute Egypte began in 1998.
