Vocational training in eco-tourism for 40 vulnerable girls from the island of Mbamou.
The association aims to make vulnerable populations in rural and isolated areas self-sufficient in energy and food. It relies on renewable energies and skills transfer. Sub-Saharan Africa has a low rural electrification rate. By installing a tidal turbine that produces 4 to 10 kWh of energy 24/7, Pot@maï has been testing a complete solution for access to essential services in Loubassa since 2021. The tidal turbine powers an Essential Services Unit (ESU), which is a training, production and storage facility for neighbouring villages. Given the proximity of Mbamou Island to Brazzaville, a strong potential for "green tourism" has been identified. The project involves training 40 young girls in sustainable tourism and helping them to find work.
