Combat the social exclusion of children and young people in danger in Ouagadougou
The history of Samusocial is closely connected with the involvement of Dr Xavier Emmanuelli, its founder. Drawing on his experience assisting people the most in danger, or “victims of life”, he initiated a rethink on how social exclusion is addressed. Convinced that severe exclusion is experienced in all major cities around the world, Xavier Emmanuelli founded Samusocial International in July 1998. With the support of the Air France Foundation since 2005, Samusocial Burkina Faso provides a support scheme for over 1,000 children and young people aged 7 to 25 experiencing severe exclusion, as well as 200 of their family members. The project provides them with access to free medical, psychosocial and educational resources adapted to these children and young people in reception centres. The scheme guarantees assistance for young people in achieving projects involving employment integration, social reintegration and/or coming off the streets.
