Water treatment project for the centre hosting street children
Village Pilote aims to reintegrate street children and young people. The association’s activities include on-the-go listening through weekly tours around the streets of Dakar and its suburbs, the management of reception centres (accommodation, health, education), the implementation of schemes to return children to their families and vocational support in businesses. In Den Biram Ndao, Village Pilote caters to 400 young people every year. 110 socially disconnected youngsters aged 5 to 20 live there on a permanent basis. The current project, supported by the Air France Foundation, aims to set up an autonomous drinking water supply and market garden system, as well as improve the existing sanitation system. This enables the treated water to go back into the natural environment and feed a green barrier. The partnership with the association began in 2013.
