Génération Mada

Role of the association

Génération Mada works in Madagascar to empower young people and prepare them to become aware of sustainable change. More than 45,000 children have benefited from education, health and integration programmes, with the emphasis on teacher training, youth employment and support for families as part of a comprehensive approach.

Project description

In Madagascar, 50% of children do not finish primary school and 27% do not finish secondary school. The baccalaureat success rate is 45%.

In this context, the Ketsa centre, one of the association's programmes, is an educational centre with a holistic approach. Its project aims to remedy educational shortcomings and bring about lasting change for over 200 children a year. The children are monitored from the time they enrol in primary school until they enter the world of work.

The support lasts for around fifteen years. It is personalised and includes not only educational teaching, but also cultural and artistic activities to encourage a wide range of learning. It also offers guidance and access to employment in partnership with partner companies. All young people benefit from courses in French, IT and sport.

The support of the Air France Foundation will help finance the Education Centre.
