Air France today announced a new partnership with the French Basketball Federation, becoming for the next two years the official carrier of the French men’s and women’s national basketball teams for their international competitions.

On this occasion, let’s take a look at the airline’s long-standing commitment to sport, in France and around the world.

Building on the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games

This new partnership follows in the footsteps of the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, of which Air France was an official partner. During the event, the airline welcomed more than 9,000 athletes representing over 150 nationalities, confirming its essential role in the organization of major global sporting events. Air France demonstrated its unique ability to combine French hospitality with operational excellence, transporting thousands of passengers and tons of sports equipment with precision and reliability.

Special expertise dedicated to athletes

For many years, Air France has been putting its logistical and operational expertise at the service of elite athletes. Transporting teams and their equipment requires special care – whether it’s kayaks, bicycles, pole vaults or wheelchairs – and the airline provides tailor-made solutions to ensure athletes travel in optimal conditions, allowing them to focus on their performance.

A commitment to sport for good

Air France also supports sport as a driver of education and social inclusion. Through its Foundation, the airline partners with associations such as Sport dans la Ville, which supports 7,500 young people from disadvantaged neighborhoods through programs focused on sports, professional guidance and entrepreneurship.

With the active support of the Air France Foundation since 2013, a new sports center was opened in the Paris suburb of Villiers-le-Bel, staffed by coaches and an employment integration officer.

Sport at the heart of Air France’s internal life

Sport also plays an integral role in the company’s internal life, bringing together several thousand employees each year around unifying and solidarity-driven events.

In 2024, employees from the company took part in the Marathon for All, organized as part of the Paris Olympic and Paralympic Games — a unique experience along the legendary Olympic marathon route.

In spring 2025, Air France once again offered its employees a sporting and charitable event over a two-week period, centered around the connected challenge Move by Air France and the Adidas 10K Paris race.

Nearly 2,000 employees took on the challenge, covering more than 250,000 kilometers in just fifteen days, which generated a donation in support of three associations backed by the Air France Foundation.

This momentum continued with the participation of 500 employees in the Adidas 10K Paris, an event the company has supported for the fourth consecutive year. This collective effort enabled a donation to be made to the association L’Envol, also supported by the Air France Foundation.

These complementary initiatives reflect the energy, cohesion, and commitment of Air France teams.

Proud to support French athletes

As France’s national airline, Air France is particularly proud to fly the French flag alongside its sports delegations. Whether basketball players, judokas, swimmers or Paralympic athletes, they all embody the excellence and team spirit that the airline strives to promote both in the sky and on the ground.
