Citizen pathway: unlocking the potential of Chad teenagers
The Essor association aims to facilitate the uptake of local development processes, employment integration and agricultural development. The association works to support social welfare, the strengthening of civil society and development education. Just 22.2% of the over-15s are literate and 71.4% of children who enter primary school abandon their education. The “Citizen Pathway”, a five-month socio-educational programme including eight hours of lessons per week, supported by the Air France Foundation since 2019, assists these youngsters. It creates concrete improvements to the life circumstances of 200 teenagers in major difficulties. They are invited to get involved in socio-educational workshops, sports activities and cultural events on subjects with no or little coverage at school or in the home.
