Empire des enfants

Role of the association

In its reception centre in Dakar, it provides comprehensive care for boys aged 5 to 14 who live on the streets, are victims of exploitation through forced begging, are lost or have broken away from their families. The youngsters take part in socio-educational activities to facilitate their social, professional and family reintegration. It also develops activities linked to environmental protection education in rural areas, where it takes children on discovery trips called "classes vertes".

Project description

The Empire Green Club is an eco-school set up on 1.5 hectares of farmland in a rural environment in the Saint-Louis region. It aims to offer children and young people a genuine opportunity for learning, emancipation and sustainable social and family reintegration, in three main ways: agro-ecology, sustainable livestock farming and renewable energy. After an initial phase made possible thanks to the support of the Air France Foundation - including the construction of an ecological building, the installation of toilets, a kitchen, an activity room, a solar well and making the site secure - the project is now entering its educational and professional deployment phase. This training programme aims to strengthen the technical and entrepreneurial skills of the young beneficiaries, promote environmentally-friendly farming practices, improve local food security and encourage their empowerment. By incorporating a strong environmental dimension, Empire Green Club aims to become a model eco-school in rural Senegal and a real lever for inclusion and resilience for young people in search of a future. The funding will enable us to continue acquiring the initial equipment and facilities required, as well as fitting out the educational areas.
