Helpsimus is committed to protecting theGreaterbamboo lemur
thanks to is “Bamboo Lemur” programme, combining scientific study of the species, protection of its habitat, supporting the development of local villages and financing children’s education. In rural areas, parents have to contribute to building and maintaining the infrastructure. Most school buildings are in a state of disrepair. The current project involves improving the infrastructure of the Sahofika school by constructing a school building and separate toilets for girls and boys. There are also plans to complete the facilities of the Ecole des Simus created in 2022 and supported by the Air France Foundation, by building a dormitory to accommodate children from partner villages. A first educational film on the Greater bamboo lemur (in French and Malagasy) will also be produced and used by teachers during educational workshops.
