Promoting access to digital technology with the construction of two computer classrooms for middle and high school students in a rural area of Tamil Nadu.
Objectif France Inde supports development projects by helping Indian NGOs to officially document, finance, coordinate and monitor their projects. A classroom block in a rural area is currently under construction, as the current school does not meet government standards. The private school caters for 1,000 pupils from the Dalit community, commonly known as “untouchables”. Classes are taught in English, enabling students to access higher education and better-paid jobs. The results are very positive, giving young people the skills to adapt to the world of work. The aim of the current project is to improve the quality of education by offering science and computer science classes/labs, which have been made compulsory by the government. The Air France Foundation’s support has enabled the construction of two computer rooms. Middle and high school students will have access to these rooms, as well as former students who will be able to use them outside school hours and at weekends.
