A new sports centre to support young people in Villiers-le-Bel from sport into employment

Sport dans la Ville helps to foster the social and vocational integration of 7,500 young people from disadvantaged city neighbourhoods. It runs various programmes: “Sport and discovery”; “Job in the City” aimed at 1,700 young people aged 14 and over, to help them succeed in their career guidance and vocational integration; “L in the City”, aimed at 2,000 young girls to support them in their empowerment and vocational integration; and “Entrepreneurs in the City”, a business formation support programme that has led to the creation of 310 businesses since 2007. Sport dans la Ville initiatives begin on its sports fields constructed in the heart of the target neighbourhoods. With the Air France Foundation’s active support since 2013, the aim is to provide quality sports infrastructure to young people, fostering access to sociability, training and employment through the “Job in the City” programme. The sports centre is run by three sports educators and an “integration manager” responsible for monitoring the young people, in liaison with their families and local participants.
