Role of the association
Supporting and training young people aged 16 to 25 years old, who have no access to employment and training, towards manual jobs in the ecological transition sector.
Set up in 2021, its aim is to support the transformation of the region, in collaboration with local partners, so that young people have access to professionals in the sector. It also works with secondary schools to raise students' awareness of the new sectors involved in ecological transition and organizes work placements in companies.
Project description
Around 600 young people drop out of school every year in the Greater Roissy area. In 5 years, almost 150,000 new jobs will need to be created in the ecological transition sector. There are real opportunities to be seized by young people looking for meaning, training and employment. Semer l'Avenir represents the national network of Ecological Transition Schools (ETRE) in the Val d'Oise, at the heart of the Roissy-Pays de France conurbation.
The support of the Air France Foundation, which began in 2024-25 when the company set up its new site in Goussainville, will enable it to step up its woodwork training activities in 2025-26. The training and integration courses enable young people not only to discover this sector of activity but also to gain new motivation and acquire skills for their future careers. This project involves support for 2 woodwork training sessions (4 months each) and the associated investment (equipment and consumables). The aim is to train 16 young people, with a target of 70% outflow into employment or training leading to a qualification, and a drop-out rate limited to 10%. The qualitative objectives are to boost self-esteem, resolve individual difficulties, raise awareness of the ecological issues linked to employment, and improve social skills and knowledge of the local area.
