For nearly 20 years, Air France has been committed to gender diversity and professional equality between men and women, in particular by encouraging women to enter all professions. Aware that the diversity of talent is a major asset for any company, Air France is careful to promote the skills, know-how and professional attitude of all its people.

In January 2022, Air France signed the 6th three-year professional equality agreement, which provides for concrete measures to help women take on positions of responsibility, increase the proportion of women on management committees and among managers. It also aims to ensure equal treatment, particularly in terms of pay, improve working conditions for parents, combat sexism and sexual harassment and support women who are victims of violence and abuse. This agreement reflects Air France's desire to continue raising awareness among employees and managers in terms of diversity and inclusion.

On International Women's Day on 8 March 2023, Air France is taking part in the 2nd edition of the event "Feminizing airline professions" organised by Air Emploi, an association of which Air France is a founding member.

This initiative is the result of a joint commitment between Air Emploi and 20 organizations in the air and space, airline and airport sectors, including Air France, Airbus, the ADP Group, Ariane Group, Dassault Aviation, Transavia, the French Air Force, the French Navy and professional federations. The 2023 edition, organised at the Airbus delivery centre in Toulouse, enabled 200 secondary school girls and students from the region to meet more than fifty civilian and military professionals at workshops and round tables presenting possible career paths in the aviation and space sectors.

The students met several people from Air France, including Emilie Hameau (IT project manager), Marion Banelli (aeronautical technician) and Pamela Boyer (A320 pilot), who told them about their experience and the many current recruitment opportunities.

In 2023, Air France plans to open up nearly 1,000 new recruitment opportunities for pilots, aeronautical technicians and engineers, IT specialists, logistics experts, etc., in line with processes that allow equal access for both men and women to the jobs on offer.

Key figures (at 31/12/2022):

  • 17,378 women at Air France, 45.5% of the company’s workforce;
  • 356 female pilots, 9.2% of the pilot workforce;
  • 8161 female cabin crew, 66.1% of all flight attendants;
  • 32% of women in IT positions;
  • 38% of women in Cargo positions;
  • 14.7 % of women in aeronautical maintenance, a figure which has doubled in 10 years.

Air France is pursuing its commitment, with ambitious objectives in favour of gender equality and is aiming for 50% of women in senior management positions from now on.
